Strawberry Plant Sampler

Enjoy fresh strawberries all season long! Our Strawberry Plant Sampler is the perfect way for beginner gardeners and homesteaders to start growing their own berries at home. This curated mix includes early, mid-season, and late-season varieties, so instead of one short harvest window, you can enjoy a longer berry season. These varieties are well-suited for growing zones 4–8—making them a reliable choice for backyard gardens, raised beds, or homestead patches in most of the US.

Quantity: 12 bare root strawberry plants (4 Galletta, 4 AC Valley, 4 All Star)

Shipping Info: Spring strawberry plants begin shipping in March. We will try to ship within the ideal planting window for your growing zone.

What's In the Sampler?

  • Galletta (Early Season) – A productive early variety that kicks off your strawberry harvest. Galletta produces large, glossy berries with classic sweet strawberry flavor and strong disease resistance. Plants are vigorous and reliable, making them a great choice for first-time growers.
  • AC Valley (Mid to Late Season) – This variety picks up and keeps the harvest going after early berries finish. AC Valley is known for excellent flavor, consistent yields, and firm berries that hold up well for fresh eating or preserving.
  • All Star (Late Season) – A dependable late-season strawberry that extends your harvest even further. All Star produces large, juicy berries with a mild sweet flavor and shows good resistance to common strawberry diseases.

With a mix of three varieties, this sampler is a great way to enjoy a longer strawberry harvest while also discovering which varieties perform best in your garden!

Growing Information

🌱 Plant Type: Bare root strawberry plants (June-bearing varieties)
🌱 Hardiness Zones: 4–8
🌱 When to Plant: Early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked
🌱 When to Harvest: Late spring through early summer, depending on variety and climate

Cultivation Tips

  • Soil requirements: Strawberries prefer well-drained, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter and a slightly acidic pH (around 5.5–6.8).
  • Sunlight: Plant in full sun for the best yields—at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during flowering and fruit development.
  • Harvesting: Pick berries when they are fully red and ripe, ideally in the morning when they are cool. Regular harvesting encourages continued production.
  • Overwintering: Cover with row covers or mulch with straw to protect plants from freeze damage.
  • Pro tip: Remove the blossoms in the first spring after planting to help plants establish strong roots. The plants will produce a full harvest in their second spring.
